Many important happenings had happened in Dallas. Dallas history showed that the city was first settled in 1841. This city became a petroleum industry due to the discovery of oil field in East Texas. The city also has cultural activities encouraging the learning of the arts of ballet, opera, and symphony orchestras. Dallas is the second largest city in Texas and the ninth largest city in the United States. Dallas community experienced an unfortunate predicament when President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in this city in 1963. During the mid-80’s, Dallas had a bank crisis that had resulted in a drop in economy. During the 90’s, Dallas became known as the Silicon prairie. It became known as such because it was compared to Silicon Valley. The booming of computer technology and telecommunications industries are the reasons for this comparison. Dallas is known as a prairie because of its vast grassland.

Other major businesses in Dallas are cotton and transportation including aircraft production. Dallas has universities for the students, museums for people interested in arts, and a public arts school for people interested in learning music, literature, and drama.

Dallas weather history showed that Dallas has a humid subtropical climate. It is slightly windy but there are seasons when it’s warm. For people who want to visit Dallas, spring may be the most comfortable season to visit. Dallas weather history had proved that during spring, the climate is at a comfortable level and the season is windy. The flowers also start to bloom during this season. Unfortunately, Dallas weather history had also shown that during springtime, the weather can change unpredictably. The Trinity River overflows at times. It makes the immediate area of the river flooded. At one time, the flooding of Trinity River had left thousands of families homeless. Tornadoes are also a big threat to the city. Dallas’ officials had started a project on the development of the Trinity River. It is scheduled for completion on 2010. It should result in improved facilities and transportation.
