A deed name change allows citizens of legal age to change the names they go by through a document known as a deed poll. The process is then called Change of Name by Deed Poll. A deed poll comes from legitimate deed poll issuer services. These entities take care of issuing the document which would forbid an individual to change all or part of their names. Deed name change is allowed by virtue of this document.

The deed poll is a legal document that bears the commitment of an individual to abandon their former name, to use only their new name under all circumstances, and to compel all other persons to use the said new name when they refer to the individual to whom the deed poll was issued. In order for a deed name change to be valid, the deed poll must carry the official seal of the issuer in order that its authenticity be asserted.

A deed name change is an easy process that secures an individual the necessary details for a change of name. However, there are certain restrictions as to the choice of name an individual can make. Names which sound funny are actually allowed for as long as the individual can make sure that there will be no problems in the respective professional organizations with which they belong. After all, it would not be professional if a person walked into a law firm and represented himself as an attorney but he had a ridiculously-sounding name such as Cookie Dough.

Most deed poll issuer services are very lenient when it comes to the choice of names. They do, however, have restrictions on the use of some names where the individual can commit copyright infringements. For example, persons who wish to copy names of famous authors and music artists may do so if they wanted to. But if they published books and music under these names, then they will have to be charged with copyright infringement.
