RAID 0 or simply RAID stands for Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks. This simply means using multiple hard drives instead of just one so you can back up your data automatically. When one disk fails, you can still recover your data from the other disk. RAID 0 recovery technology really is simple yet a very effective way of hard drive data recovery.

Another advantage of using RAID 0 is speed. While a single disk drive's performance is limited by the speed of that particular drive, a RAID 0 array can read and write in parallel from the different drives. RAID 0 is particularly useful for hard disk intensive applications like when you're working with a lot of graphics or audio and video files.

RAID 0 arrays used to be only available in enterprise set ups where huge and expensive servers are used. That is no longer true. RAID 0 is now available even for desktop users. That means you can compete with the big guys when it comes to hardware power.

If you are a freelance graphics artist or maybe you want to build a home recording studio; perhaps you want to start a freelance video editing business; worry no more. You don't have to spend your life savings for that piece of hardware you really need. RAID 0 is now available even to the home user.

There are other available technologies for backing up your files. There are tape drives, USB mass storage devices, online back-up services, and others. Still, nothing compares to the ease of use and cost effectiveness of RAID 0. It's just like having extra hard disks and making them work in unison.

For backing up and for intensive disk usage requirements, nothing beats using RAID 0 in terms of cost effectiveness, ease of use and speed. Sometimes the simplest solutions are the most effective. That's true even in backing up your important files.
