The capabilities and capacities of computer hardware have seen an explosive improvement in the past decade. Current hard disks now can accommodate hundreds of gigabytes, some can even handle terabytes of data. In setting up a SATA RAID 0 system or simply SATA 0, a little research can do a lot to make sure you have a stable, reliable, fast and cost effective system.

When setting up a Serial ATA raid 0 or SATA raid 0, you have to make sure that specifications of the disk you will use will match. Same capacity and speed disks work better together. If you plan to use 160GIG hard disk make sure all the hard disk you use are all 160GIG. If you plan to use 7200RPM hard disks, it would be best of if all the hard disks you will be using for the SATA raid 0 set are all 7200RPM in speed. This will help eliminate the hassle of incompatibility.

When choosing a brand of hardware to use, remember that the most expensive doesn't necessarily equate to the highest quality. There are brands that are fast and reliable and also offer huge capacities but are not priced too high. Generic brands are the way to go when you want to save money. But be sure to ask about those brands. Some brands really are not to be trusted. Ask around to be sure if the brand you're choosing will be reliable for your SATA RAID 0 set up.

A chain is only as good as its weakest link. The same is true for a computer system. So make sure that the cables and wiring that you use in your system are of high quality. The price difference between high quality cables and those that are not so high quality is insignificant. You would be better off using the cables priced a little higher but will surely work well with your SATA RAID 0 set up.
