Nature of American Singles Golf Association

The American Singles Golf Association is actually two types of organizations in one. On one hand, it is an amateur golf club where you can join various golf tournaments or functions with fellow golfers. On the other hand, it is also a social club exclusively for single, divorced or widowed people who share a common love of the sport.

The association was founded back in 1996 by two golfers who saw the viability of using the golf course as a healthier alternative to bars for enabling singles to meet and socialize.

Since then, the American Singles Golf Association has grown exponentially, now with over twenty thousand members in over seventy chapters across the nation.

Membership Policies

You can register for a one or two year membership. The price of membership is seventy dollars a year, and if you wish, you can add thirty more dollars to get a golf shirt with the association's logo. The shirt is free if you sign up for a two-year membership.

To join, you need to fill out an online application form with your personal details. You also need to select which chapter you want to be part of, as well as the length of your membership.

As a member, you are required to attend the monthly meetings of your local chapter. The association also requires each chapter to organize and hold at least one golfing event each month for its members. Each golfing event may be followed by a social activity such as a picnic, dinner at a local restaurant or party. The chapters also have a free hand in organizing non-golf activities.

You are encouraged to join one or more of the different committees in each chapter. You can choose from socials, communication, membership or golf committees. You can even run for a position in the executive board of your chapter.

Being a member of the American Singles Golf Association is a great socializing experience, as well as an excellent way to exercise leadership and people skills.

During meetings, golf events and social activities you get to meet others who share the common interest of playing golf. Compared to one-night stands at singles bars, association members know each other's backgrounds and have enough chances to get to know their fellow members even better as they work together during association activities.
