If you have the desire to work with dogs, then you can actually do so without having to finish a degree from a vet school. You can pursue a career in dog training. Dog training jobs have become in-demand in the past few years because of the popular television shows that feature trained dogs, and due to the expectations of the dog owners towards their pets. Pet owners want their expensive bred dogs to be well-behaved and children friendly. Others even treat their dogs as their children.

Dog training jobs have their share of perks. Unlike most of the jobs where you are stuck in the office between 9am and 5pm, dog training jobs offer flexibility in your work schedule. You can spend time outside the premises of the workplace with the puppies, and you are also paid handsomely. Since this is not a typical nine-to-five job, its drawback includes having to work during odd hours. The job requires some emotional investments in animals and you may also have to deal with distraught owners.

To be able to qualify for dog training jobs, you have to enroll in a dog training program. There are available distance-learning programs which have arranged internship with a local mentor. It may take you eight months to a year to finish the program. Some training institutes help their graduates in finding dog training jobs, which may include works at kennels or directly with dog owners. Others who have the money begin their own business in dog training.

To find a good training school, you must look for one which offers substantial hours with hands-on practice with dogs. The dog training program, however, does not replace the basic requirement, which is genuine love towards the dog, in order to have a successful career in dog training.
