UNIVERSAL ACCEPTANCE

A universal card refers to a credit card that has wide acceptance in most shops around the world. Having a universal card gives you the convenience of using only one credit card wherever in the world you might be.

While most credit cards have wide acceptance locally, not all of them can be used outside the country where it was issued. If you are applying for a credit card, and plan to do some traveling, it would be a good idea to ask if your credit card is a universal card. If not, then ask where and how you can get one.

The fees for a universal card are higher compared with a local credit card because of its better features. Usually, a universal card has some insurance or provisions for loss if the card was lost during one of your travels.

HIGHER CREDIT LIMIT

A universal card will also have a higher credit limit in light of the fact that you will be using the card while going from one place to another. Because some places have higher cost of living than others, having a high credit limit will certainly be an advantage.

One popular example of a universal credit card is the Visa credit card. Visa credit card is one of the most recognized credit cards in the world, with acceptance in almost all shops that are accepting credit cards as a mode of payment.

Universal card is certainly useful if you are a frequent traveler, going from one place to another on a regular basis. However, if you will not be traveling any time soon, then a local credit card will work just fine. By using a local credit card than a universal card, you save on annual credit card fees and can control your spending by having a much lower credit card limit.
