Cerable palsey can be caused by oxygen deprivation, fetal distress and birth asphyxia. It is generally a result of damage during birth or during fetal development. Some causes are difficult to identify for several months after birth and specific causes are very complex to analyze without carefully looking at the history of the mother.

Usually, children with cerable palsey are slow and are not developing their motor skills normally. They have difficulty in walking, smiling and crawling, and they may also have an unusual posture. They usually call it developmental delay.

Most common types of cerebral palsey are spastic, ataxic, athertoid and mixed forms. Spastic affects most patients. This often affects the limbs due to stiff undeveloped muscles. The ataxic is a rare form of cerable palsey that affects the sense of balance and perception of a child. Usually, children have poor coordination and cannot walk properly.

Athetoid is characterized by slow movements. The most affected parts are the hands and the feet and sometimes the muscles in the face and tongue which enables them to drool. The abnormal movements are often dominant during emotional stress and disappear during sleep.

The mixed form of cerebral palsey is frequent in patients to have signs of more than one of the other three forms. Early detection and treatment of cerebral palsy can significantly reduce the disability. There are many therapies available such as physical treatment, surgery and mechanical aids, behavioral therapy and drug therapy. Keep in mind that not all treatments may work for a child and that these therapies are under supervision of a medical specialist.

Parents who are disturbed about their baby's development and progress for any reason should get in touch with their physician that can assist in deciding normal variation in development from a developmental disorder. But you should acquire the services of the most reputable medical professionals so as to obtain accurate information on such developmental disorders.
