Background of Eames Office

The beautiful and highly durable Eames office furniture pieces were the brainchildren of Charles and Ray Eames who started designing and producing them back in 1947.

The owner, Charles Eames, originally had an architectural office but later focused on designing furniture pieces. He later worked with his future second wife who collaborated with him to make prize-winning furniture pieces out of molded plywood. Later, they were commissioned by the US Navy to produce splints, stretchers and glider shells out of molded plywood and fiberglass.

The Eames couple continued creating and designing furniture up to the 70s. They became noted for unique Eames table and chair designs which were well-received by corporate offices.

After the death of the Eames couple, their daughter and grandson continued to operate the business, expanding the product lines as well as distributing them internationally.

The Eames Office Online Gallery

The official Eames Office site continues the legacy of the founding couple. The same distinctive Eames office chairs and tables that have been popular for the last few decades are still featured. Aside from fiberglass and plywood types, you can also get aluminum pieces. You can also buy Eames furniture pieces for specialized uses, such as Eames loungers, school desks and drafting tables.

The site also displays and markets other decorative product lines. There are now photography pieces and other accessories that you can buy to complement your home or office interiors. There are wall applications in simple but very tasteful minimalist designs to match your Eames furniture. Clocks, throw pillows and ceiling lamps come in unique forms.

To complement your Eames office table, you can get journals, note pads, business card cases, pens, and stationery.

Eames Office has also expanded to the children market, with its Vitra miniature furniture, view master reels, house of cards and memory games, tops, and molded plywood animals.
