One aspect you should never neglect if you are in charge of a computer room is the air that flows inside it. This has a lot of effect on the lifespan of the equipment housed inside it. That is why computer room air conditioning should be looked upon very carefully.

You know how hot the processors can get specially if you are using super high speed computers. Often, the built-in cooling system in the computer is not enough to maintain the ideal temperature. Computer room air must be kept at low temperatures to compliment the computer's built-in cooling mechanism.

The computer often only has a fan or an exhaust. The temperature outside the computer case will greatly affect the temperature inside the computer. The right levels must always be maintained.

Additionally, the computer room air must be free from too much moisture. Computer parts can easily be damaged by moisture and great care must be given to ensure that moisture is minimized.

Dirt and dust should be kept away from the computer room. This can be done by filtering the computer room air. Dust can get inside the computer casing and damage the parts of the computer.

The computer room air cannot be too cold on the other hand. A very low temperature can cause fast condensation that could contribute to the production of moisture.

Using a room thermometer would be the most accurate way of ensuring that the correct computer room air is maintained. What may be too cold for humans would be just right for the computers. The way humans judge the coldness or warmth of a room will always be subjective and inaccurate. Using a thermometer will make human error out of the picture.

With great care and the right tools, you can maintain just right computer room air to ensure the computer's long lifespan.
