You can use plastic welding machines to weld to or more pieces of plastic material together. This has a lot of applications in the industrial and even in the residential setting. Think about the plastic toys, appliances that has plastic in them, car parts and accessories. All of these and many others depend on plastic welding machines to come up with quality products that we use everyday.

Similar to welding metals, heat is used and also sometimes filling materials. Heat and pressure play a great role in welding together the plastic materials together using plastic welding machines.

Another application of plastic welding machines is for repairs. Plastic, as a material is not as long lasting as metals. But you can repair plastic materials easily and very cheaply. Plastic is, after all, a lot cheaper than metal. You can even do the repairs yourself if you're feeling like doing some DIY experiments. Just don't forget to use a plastic welding mask to you don't inhale the welding fumes extraction.

Also, remember that not all plastics are created equal. You can weld some plastic materials but not the other types. There are two types of plastics you have to keep in mind, thermoplastics and thermosets. Thermoplastics cab be welded but not the thermosets.

The kind of plastic welding technique to use will also depend on what you are trying to accomplish. Is it going to be a repair? Is it a new product? What kind of damage are you trying to repair if you are doing repairs?

You also have to consider the shape of the plastic parts that you are trying to weld together. Heat is probably going to be applied during the welding process so make sure that the materials you will be using can stand heat. The right amount of heat and pressure must be carefully set for a successful plastic welding.
