If you've ever need help with your computer, then chances are you have tried calling the help for computer technical support. You probably have heard of the long agonizing wait before you get hold of an actual human. You will have to wade through the automated attendant system before you find the actual department that you are looking for. Once you finally get hold of an actual person, you are greeted with a barrage of questions.

You have probably heard of technical support horror stories. And you can't really blame the overworked reps if you think about it. Sometimes, the few dollars that third party tech support services offer is worth it just not to go through all the aggravation.

First thing you need to do is check the computer service agreement. See if there's an option to use the services of third party technical support companies. Be careful with this as it can be stated in the computer service agreement that warranties will become void if you choose to use third party service.

You have to carefully weigh how much the warranty is worth compared to the time and aggravation that you will probably go through if you use in-house technical support. These guys have very high-pressure jobs and they are often overloaded with work.

Once you have checked the voluntary agreement or the computer service agreement, and you are comfortable with using a third party service company, make sure that you shop around first. Gathering as much information as you can, you will get a better understanding on which company to use.

You can even ask other users about their experience from a particular company. Although case studies can be isolated cases, if you ask enough persons, you can get a fairly accurate view of what a company's service actually is.
