In our technologically advanced world, there are several machines that harness the power of compressed air or pneumatics to get the job done. You may know it but most of the products in you household that you use everyday were produced using pneumatics. Pneumatics have many various industrial applications and even the construction industry rely on pneumatics heavily to get the job done faster and easier.

Pneumatics is simply a branch of technology that deals with the use of compressed air to get the work done. You have probably have seen how a wine bottle pops when you open the cork. That is compresses air. If channeled correctly, compressed air can be made to do work and make our lives easier so we can enjoy other activities.

One common tool being used today that uses the power of compressed air is the pneumatic torque wrench. It is a hand tool that stores compressed air and then suddenly releases it when the user needs its power. The result is a powerful and efficient tool for turning screws. The pneumatic torque wrench can also be used in many various applications.

The pneumatic torque wrench is very similar to the hydraulic wrench except that the hydraulic wrench uses the power of compressed water to get work done. Both technologies save on energy as the force exerted by compressed air or water is greater than the force to compress the air.

This principle is used effectively when you see relatively smaller machines lift heavy objects. Forklifts can lift heavy cargo because of the use of compressed water or air. There are researchers conducting some study on how to use compressed air or water to power cars.

The resulting force can be used to power the car and at the same time compress the liquid or gas anew. This is the closest to perpetual motion that we can get.
