Emergency response vehicles are defined as any vehicles that are authorized by the state to response to any kind of emergencies. The state, non government organizations, and commercial companies might operate these emergency response vehicles. The examples of emergency response vehicles are the following:

- Police car
- SWAT car
- Mountain rescue
- Emergency medical response unit, such as the ambulance
- Tow truck
- Park rangers
- Mine rescue

There are certain requirements that the owners of emergency response equipment should follow. Some of these requirements are the following:

- The vehicle should have an identification markings. A good example of this is the word Ambulance that is written in the emergency medical response unit.

- Visibility markings, especially during the emergency time. These visibility markings would give safety to other people as they would know when the emergency response is rushing. They would have a chance to give way to the rushing vehicle instead of blocking its way.

- Contact information. This is like giving an advertisement so that other people would know the number that they should call when an emergency rises.

To prevent further accident caused by a rushing emergency response vehicles, there are rules that would help in regulating the use of these vehicles.

First of all, the emergency response vehicles should have colored (preferably red) and flashing lights. These lights should be used during the emergency. The colors of the lights also differ based on their uses. Blue lights and green lights might also be used but they should be used by volunteers only.

Next is that other drivers should distance themselves from the oncoming emergency response vehicles so as to give way to the emergency vehicle.

Other drivers are not allowed to follow these emergency response vehicles so as to relieve themselves from the traffic.

Last is that the drivers of other vehicles should not drive over the hoses from the fire department without the knowledge and consent of the acting chief for the emergency.

These things should be followed by all drivers so that they would avoid further accidents.
